In this plan an individual can choose his own dentist. This plan is also known as private dental insurance .In this dental insurance plan pays the dentist for the service. The client or the employer pays a monthly premium to the insurance company. The insurance company reimburses the dentist for the service rendered.

PP0 Dental insurance plan:


PPO means Preferred provider organization. In this plan a patient is allowed to get dental care from a defined panel of dentist. The dentist who is in this panel agrees to charge less than the usual amount for the patient who has purchased this plan.

If the patient chooses a dentist who is not in the panel he has to pay full from his pocket for the service given. But this plan is little flexible than DHMO plan and patient can receive some benefit even he goes out of the panel.

HMO Network plan:
This insurance plan is also know as Capitation plan. This plan provides comprehensive dental care for the registered patient through designated dentist. The dentist is paid on per person basis rather than the actual treatment provided to the patient.

The dentist receives a monthly fee based on the number of patient assigned to the office.
Apart from this the patient co-payment may be required at the time of serviced is received.

Direct Re-imbursement plans:

This direct Re-Imbursement plan is the popular individual dental insurance plan. In this the employer pays for the dental care with its funds and it does not pay any premium to any insurance company. In this plan the patient pays the full amount directly to the dentist.

A receipt is given to the patient stating the service provided to him and the amount of money he paid for it. This receipt can be submitted to the employer and the part or full dental cost can be reimbursed to the patient based the benefit offered to him.

Discount dental plans:

In this the organization has negotiates with dentists to offer discount for some dental procedures. This plan allows the patient to receive immediate coverage without any waiting time. This plan has several advantages over other traditional plans like neglecting for predefined conditions.

From all the above individual dental insurance plan, an individual has to work out for own need and affordability.
